Aaron Judge was lifted for pinch-hitter Heliot Ramos in the sixth inning of Wednesday's 5-4, 13-inning loss at Minnesota with right lower leg tightness. He had gone 0-for-2 with two strikeouts against Zebby Matthews.
Judge said he first felt it in the first inning while playing the field. "I tried to kind of play it off and see how long we could go, because these games are important down the stretch." The New York Daily News reported he may have aggravated it on a check swing on the first pitch of his third-inning at-bat. He does not anticipate further testing, and Boone said afterward he doesn't yet know whether Judge will miss games: "Said he felt a little something after the first inning. Hopefully it's something we were able to catch."
Context on where he is in the comeback: this was his seventh game since returning Sept. 8 from a 99-day absence with a stress fracture in his first right rib. He homered Monday — his first since coming back — then sat Tuesday as a routine day off after six straight starts. He's hitting .241 in 66 games with 18 homers and 41 RBI.
The loss dropped New York four games behind Tampa Bay, with a doubleheader Sept. 22 and a four-game series against the Rays next week.

Carlos Rodón threw his slowest fastball of the season in the first inning at 90.1 mph, averaging 92.3 to 92.8 over his first three frames before climbing back to 94.9 in the fourth. He has now gone 25 consecutive starts without allowing more than three runs — the longest streak in Yankees history and tied for sixth-longest in major league history.
Action: HOLD and start him. The velocity corrected within the outing, and a 25-start run of three-or-fewer is about as reliable a floor as exists.
Walker Joins the 20/20 Club
