The Adds Sheet — 5/18: Sheets rebound, Steer hot, Benge breakout

**Top conviction STREAM:** Spencer Steer (31% owned) flips massive xwOBA edge (+0.080 over wOBA) with elite Barrel% (15.3%) and four straight starts in the lineup — buy-low candidate on track to break through. **Top conviction AVOID:** Braying Rocchio (28% owned) is riding waiver buzz despite xwOBA trailing actual results, suggesting BA regression risk and flipped signals: hold or fade rather than chase the +3pp add.

Verdict tiers (consolidated):ADD — pick up off waivers (high conviction) • STREAM — net-positive add in 10–12 team formats • HOLD — keep rostered; buy-low/sell-high notes in body • WATCH — situation in flux; revisit in 3–5 days • AVOID — negative regression or saturated ownership

xwOBA vs wOBA framing (applied consistently):xwOBA > wOBA → results trailing peripherals → positive regression (buy) • xwOBA < wOBA → results ahead of peripherals → negative regression (sell)

Below are Yahoo's 15 biggest day-over-day ownership gainers as of 5/18/26.

═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════

STREAM Gavin Sheets

OF/1B · SD · 5% → 10% owned (▲ +5.0pp)

Why he's being added: Sheets is the Padres' primary 1B in the lineup most days against right-handed pitching, and the Statcast story is loud. His .240 season AVG sits on a .228 BABIP that's well below his career norm; xwOBA (0.363) is 0.095 above actual wOBA, Barrel% (11.2%) and hard-hit rate (45.9%) both check out. L14 (.250) is suppressed by the same luck. Note: Sheets shares first base time with Luis Arraez when SD wants more contact in the lineup, so daily-matchup managers should check the card before slotting him.

Last 7 days: ⬜ 05-11 🟢• 05-12 🟢6 05-13 🟢5 05-14 🟢• 05-15 🟢4 05-16 🔴B 05-17

Verdict: STREAM · 70% — Elite xwOBA edge + unsustainable BABIP. Best AVG-rebound candidate on the board. Watch the lineup card on lefty days.

ADD Colt Emerson

SS/3B · SEA · 14% → 19% owned (▲ +5.0pp)

Why he's being added: Emerson is the #5-7 prospect in all of baseball (per MLB Pipeline / CBS Sports) and signed an 8-year, $95M extension with Seattle in April — the richest deal ever for a player before his MLB debut. He was promoted from Triple-A Tacoma on 5/17 to cover for Brendan Donovan (10-day IL, left groin strain related to October sports hernia surgery). Emerson is a natural shortstop being deployed at 3B in deference to J.P. Crawford. The "no MLB sample" caveat is technically true but misses the point — this is a $95M franchise cornerstone making his debut, not a fringe call-up. He's been raking at Tacoma (.357 / 1.000 OPS early before a brief wrist issue) and Seattle has financial and developmental incentive to play him.

Verdict: ADD · 75% — Top-7 prospect in baseball, just promoted, $95M extension reflects organizational commitment. Donovan's IL is short-term but Emerson's runway extends beyond it. Pick up in all 12-team formats and watch his lineup deployment closely.

AVOID Brayan Rocchio

SS/2B · CLE · 25% → 28% owned (▲ +3.0pp)

Why he's being added: Rocchio is CLE's everyday SS with daily lineup consistency and a hot L14 (13-47, .276, 5 SB). The Statcast undercuts the buzz: xwOBA (0.317) trails wOBA (0.340) by 0.023, Barrel% sits at 2.9% (bottom 5th percentile), and hard-hit rate is a pedestrian 29.6%. He's running ahead of his peripherals — negative regression incoming.

Last 7 days: 🟢9 05-11 🟢9 05-12 🟢9 05-13 ⬜ 05-14 🟢9 05-15 🟢9 05-16 🟢9 05-17

Verdict: AVOID · 25% — Steals are real, but bat is propped up by BA luck. SS-only lineup spot at the bottom of the order caps ceiling. Pass.

ADD Spencer Steer

OF/1B · CIN · 28% → 31% owned (▲ +3.0pp)

Why he's being added: Steer is the Reds' primary LF in 2026 (bouncing between LF, 1B, and corner OF in their utility-heavy alignment under Francona). His season slash (.263/.335/.447) anchors a 170-PA sample, but the Statcast is the headline: xwOBA (0.392) exceeds wOBA (0.294) by 0.098 — the widest positive-regression gap on this board. Barrel% (15.3%, top 25), hard-hit rate (39.5%, above avg). 17.2% barrel rate per Reds beat coverage is a 93rd-percentile mark. L14 (.293, 2 HR) confirms the correction has started.

Verdict: ADD · 80% — Top buy-low on this board. Multi-position eligibility (OF/1B), daily ABs, and the biggest xwOBA-vs-wOBA gap among hitters. Pick up in all formats.

HOLD JJ Bleday

OF · CIN · 46% → 48% owned (▲ +2.0pp)

Why he's being added: Repeat from prior coverage — the 2pp continued gain reflects market catch-up, not new news. Bleday's profile remains elite: xwOBA (0.441), Barrel% (14.8%), hard-hit rate (53.7%), .226 BABIP suppressing a clearly better AVG. L14 (.254, 4 HR, 16 RBI) shows the power coming through. He's a near-everyday Reds OF, batting 3rd-5th most days.

Last 7 days: ⬜ 05-11 🟢5 05-12 🟢4 05-13 🟢5 05-14 🟢4 05-15 🟢5 05-16 🟢3 05-17

Verdict: STREAM · 75% — Already-owned by half the leagues, but at 48% there's still meaningful room. Elite Statcast + daily reps + BABIP unlock = top-20 OF ceiling.

HOLD Daylen Lile

OF · WSH · 71% → 73% owned (▲ +2.0pp)

Why he's being added: Washington's everyday LF, .274/.335/.463 season line over 194 PA. L14 hot (.307, 4 HR), but Statcast (xwOBA 0.347, xBA 0.277) suggests he's roughly meeting expectations — wOBA 0.347 vs xwOBA 0.347 is essentially flat, no positive cushion. Solid producer, not a breakout.

Last 7 days: ⬜ 05-11 🟢6 05-12 🟢6 05-13 🟢6 05-14 🟢5 05-15 🟢5 05-16 🟢5 05-17

Verdict: HOLD · 65% — Universally owned; the 2pp tick is baseline drift. Hold if rostered, don't chase.

STREAM A.J. Ewing

OF · NYM · 39% → 41% owned (▲ +2.0pp)

Why he's being added: Mets' primary CF since recall, 6 of 7 games started. Sample is still tiny (~16 PA) but per-pitch quality is elite: xwOBA (0.453), Barrel% (15.4%), hard-hit rate (53.8%) all top-10. The L14 (.200) is a noise stretch in a 25-AB window. Luis Robert Jr. (lumbar disc herniation) is "not progressing" per Mendoza — Ewing's runway extends another 2-3 weeks at minimum.

Last 7 days: ⬜ 05-11 🟢8 05-12 🟢8 05-13 🟢8 05-14 🟢8 05-15 🟢6 05-16 🟢8 05-17

Verdict: STREAM · 70% — Elite Statcast on a tiny sample, locked CF role, real runway. Add in 12-team formats; be ready to drop when Robert returns.

WATCH River Ryan

SP · LAD · 9% → 10% owned (▲ +1.0pp)

Why he's being added: Ryan is the top speculated replacement for Blake Snell in the Dodgers rotation — Dave Roberts called him "a possibility, a slim possibility" per Bill Plunkett (OC Register). With Snell heading to surgery for elbow loose bodies (likely 2-3 month absence per the Skubal/Díaz precedent) and Tyler Glasnow on the IL with back spasms, LA's rotation depth is genuinely thin. Ryan was just activated at Triple-A OKC after a hamstring injury and threw 4 IP / 1 ER / 4 K on 5/15. He needs build-up (max 63 pitches before the injury), so the immediate fallback is Charlie Barnes (called up Friday), with Jackson Ferris and Justin Wrobleski also in the mix.

Verdict: WATCH · 55% — Real opportunity, but he needs 2-3 build-up starts before reaching the majors. Stash in deep dynasty; watch his next 2 Triple-A outings for promotion signals. Add immediately if he's stretched to 80+ pitches.

ADD Carson Benge

OF · NYM · 19% → 20% owned (▲ +1.0pp)

Why he's being added: Benge is the Mets' everyday starting right fielder — MLB Pipeline's #16 overall prospect for 2026, made the Opening Day roster, and has been a daily starter all season. The article framing of "corner OF flex / #2 LF" badly understates him. Through 42 games: .245 / 3 HR / 19 R / 13 RBI / 8 SB, hitting in 10 of his last 12 games per FantasyPros. L14 (.340) shows the breakout pace. Statcast confirms: xwOBA (0.319) exceeds wOBA (0.238) by 0.081 — second-widest positive-regression edge on this board. Six straight starts and the .250 BABIP set up a clean rebound.

Last 7 days: ⬜ 05-11 🟢1 05-12 🟢1 05-13 🟢1 05-14 🟢1 05-15 🟢1 05-16 🟢1 05-17

Verdict: ADD · 80% — Top-20 prospect, everyday RF starter, top buy-signal on the board, recent .340 L14 stretch. The 1pp gain badly lags the underlying case. Snap-add in all 12-team formats.

HOLD Nolan Arenado

3B · AZ · 25% → 26% owned (▲ +1.0pp)

Why he's being added: Arenado is AZ's everyday 3B, 154-PA season sample at .279/.351/.463. L14 (9-47, .191, 1 HR) is a real cold stretch. Statcast (xwOBA 0.332, Barrel% 7.1%) says he's hitting roughly to true talent — recent funk is variance, not skill loss. Already in 25% of lineups, so the 1pp tick is noise.

Last 7 days: 🟢6 05-11 🟢4 05-12 🟢4 05-13 ⬜ 05-14 🟢4 05-15 🟢4 05-16 🟢4 05-17

Verdict: HOLD · 55% — Veteran starter, season-level skill intact. No waiver chase justified.

WATCH Lucas Giolito

SP · SD · 14% → 15% owned (▲ +1.0pp)

Why he's being added: Giolito just made his Padres debut Sunday 5/17 after the Padres "phantom IL'd" Matt Waldron to clear the roster spot. One 2026 start (5.0 IP, 5.40 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, 3 K) — but the xERA (2.39) and rotation lock are the buy signals. Padres rotation is loaded ahead of him (Michael King, Walker Buehler, Germán Márquez, Randy Vásquez) so he won't be skipped.

Last 7 days: ⬜ 05-11 🔴B 05-12 🔴B 05-13 🔴B 05-14 🔴B 05-15 🔴B 05-16 🟢 05-17 (debut)

Verdict: WATCH · 55% — Elite xERA on one start; rotation locked. Add after his second outing confirms the predictive signal holds.

HOLD Willy Adames

SS · SF · 70% → 71% owned (▲ +1.0pp)

Why he's being added: SF's everyday SS, hot L14 (.321) but season slash (.235/.267/.361) and xwOBA (0.278) suggest a true-talent .240 hitter. The recent heat is luck-driven. At 71%, no fresh add window.

Last 7 days: 🟢6 05-11 🟢6 05-12 🟢6 05-13 🟢6 05-14 🟢6 05-15 🟢5 05-16 🟢5 05-17

Verdict: HOLD · 50% — Daily SS reps justify holding rostered; do not chase.

HOLD Antonio Senzatela

RP · COL · 12% → 13% owned (▲ +1.0pp)

Why he's being added: Note: This entry needs verification. Senzatela has historically been a SP for COL, not a setup arm. The cited line (28.1 IP, 1.27 ERA) is plausible for a starter through ~5 starts but unusually elite. The xERA (2.82) regression framing is reasonable if the stats hold. With Dollander's recent arm tightness and rotation injuries, COL may be using Senzatela in a flex role.

Last 7 days: ⬜ 05-11 🔴B 05-12 🟢• 05-13 🔴B 05-14 🔴B 05-15 🟢• 05-16 🔴B 05-17

Verdict: HOLD · 50% — Verify role before deploying. If he's a starter, xERA suggests ERA regression to ~2.50. If he's setup/bridge, the saves path is unclear (Seth Halvorsen has been COL's primary closer).

WATCH Taylor Clarke

RP · AZ · 2% → 3% owned (▲ +1.0pp)

Why he's being added: Clarke is part of AZ's bridge crew to closer Paul Sewald (Morillo, Thompson, Clarke → Sewald), with that quartet combining for a 2.65 ERA over 68 IP per MLB.com. Season line is sharp (20.2 IP, 2.18 ERA, 0.73 WHIP), Stuff+ 121, 57.6% GB rate. Real value is the speculation play if Sewald falters: Sewald lost the role mid-2024 after three blown saves and Clarke is one of the in-house candidates if AZ needs a change (Ginkel, Loaisiga, Thompson are also in the mix, with A.J. Puk targeting a late-May return). Sewald's been solid in 2026 so far, so the immediate save path is not open.

Last 7 days: 🟢• 05-11 🔴B 05-12 🔴B 05-13 ⬜ 05-14 🔴B 05-15 🟢• 05-16 🟢• 05-17

Verdict: WATCH · 50% — Speculative hold in saves-needed leagues. Monitor Sewald's outings; Clarke jumps to ADD if Sewald blows 2+ saves or hits the IL. Otherwise, deep-league depth only.
