The Yahoo Adds Sheet — 5/12

A.J. Ewing is the top conviction HOLD as a fresh callup walking into Mets at-bats with Soto on the IL, while Nolan Arenado is the most-bought name to AVOID given a .175 L14 and a benching the last two days. Trent Grisham is the cleanest buy-low among already-rostered names thanks to a .346 xwOBA and .160 BABIP.

The Yahoo Adds Sheet — 5/12

These are Yahoo's top adds for the day — the largest day-over-day ownership_pct gainers across every Yahoo league, with probable pitchers filtered out so we're only looking at conviction adds, not matchup streams.

Top conviction HOLD: A.J. Ewing — an aggressive Mets promotion after just 13 Triple-A games per @AnthonyDiComo, walking into a corner-OF mix with Juan Soto on the IL and Luis Robert Jr. not yet resumed baseball activities. The playing-time runway is real and the ownership is still only 7%.

#1 HOLD A.J. Ewing

2B/OF · NYM · 7% owned (▲ +5.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Per @AnthonyDiComo (2026-05-12), "The Mets are calling up A.J. Ewing… It's an aggressive promotion after just 13 games at Triple-A, but all Ewing has done is hit." With Juan Soto on the IL and Luis Robert Jr. (per New Baseball Media, May 11) "not yet resumed baseball activities," New York needs an outfield bat. He's listed as AAA LF #12 in the org but the callup itself is the catalyst — and 2B/OF eligibility is a real fantasy unlock in 12-team formats.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ░░░░░░▓▓▓░ Hold · 70% — leans hold

Verdict: HOLD. A fresh callup with multi-position eligibility into a team actively missing outfield bats — speculative, but the runway is the kind of bet you want in a 12-teamer at 7% ownership.

#2 AVOID Henry Bolte

OF · ATH · 11% owned (▲ +5.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: No clear catalyst in the data — no transaction, no tweet, no L14 line. He's still listed as AAA RF #6 (prospect role) and was benched every game the A's played in the last week. This is a pure prospect-watch speculative add, likely tied to off-data buzz about a potential promotion.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ▓▓▓░░░░░░░ Hold · 30% — clear stream

Verdict: AVOID. No callup confirmation, no MLB role, no underlying signal in the data — let someone else burn the FAAB.

#3 HOLD Peter Lambert

SP · HOU · 36% owned (▲ +2.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Per @brianmctaggart (2026-05-12), "Peter Lambert vs. Mariners: 7 innings 6 hits 3 earned runs 1 walk 6 strikeouts… 13 whiffs on 51 swings… 2.76 ERA in 29 1/3 innings." His L14 line (2G, 11.1 IP, 1.62 ERA) plus a 3.45 xERA back it up, and with Hunter Brown on the IL and Lance McCullers Jr. DTD after his fingernail popped off May 6 (MLB.com, May 11), the Astros rotation slot is locked in for the foreseeable future.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ░░░░░░░▓▓▓ Hold · 75% — leans hold

Verdict: HOLD. Two IL'd starters above him and a McCullers DTD means the rotation runway is real — and the Hold signal flags ERA (3.27) > FIP (1.93) regression in his favor.

#4 STREAM Trevor McDonald

SP/RP · SF · 17% owned (▲ +2.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Filling a rotation slot with Logan Webb on the IL, McDonald posted 7.0 IP, 8 K, 1.29 ERA in his lone L14 start, with a 3.73 xERA backing it. He's also been confirmed as the starting RHP in tonight's Giants lineup per @susanslusser (5/11). Small sample, but a rotation arm in front of a fresh start.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░ Hold · 50% — coin flip

Verdict: STREAM. One good outing and a Webb-shaped rotation hole, but the sample is too small to commit roster real estate beyond his next turn.

#5 AVOID Nolan Arenado

3B · AZ · 22% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Honestly unclear — the L14 line is ugly (.175, 7-for-40, 2 HR) and the Statcast (.318 xwOBA, 27.7 HH%) is mediocre. The signal flags Sell with sample-size caveats. He's #1 on the AZ 3B depth chart but was benched May 11 and May 12 after starting every prior day. Name-brand speculation on a veteran nobody should be paying for.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ▓▓▓░░░░░░░ Hold · 30% — clear stream

Verdict: AVOID. The Sell signal plus back-to-back benchings is a warning, not a buy window — let him hit before you spend FAAB.

#6 AVOID Lucas Giolito

SP · SD · 6% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: No L14, no Statcast, no tweet — just a bump from 5% to 6%. He sits as SD SP #3 per the depth chart, so the role exists, but there's no underlying signal here. The Padres' rotation injuries (Germán Márquez, Nick Pivetta, both ETA mid-late May) could be driving speculative interest.

#7 STREAM Michael Soroka

SP/RP · AZ · 60% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: L14 is rough — 2G, 9.1 IP, 8.90 ERA — but the K% (74.0) and Whiff% (38.0) hint at swing-and-miss upside, and the 4.78 xERA is well below the surface ERA. Listed as AZ SP #5 with Merrill Kelly on the IL, so the rotation slot is locked in. Signal is Sell on sample-size grounds.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░ Hold · 45% — matchup-only

Verdict: STREAM. The rotation slot is real but the surface results are ugly — only roll him out in plus matchups until the ERA stabilizes.

#8 HOLD Brandon Marsh

OF · PHI · 39% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Per @ToddZolecki (5/11), "Brandon Marsh is leading MLB in hitting." The L14 backs it up: 20-for-48 (.416), 11 runs, 1 SB, and a 48.1 HH%. The Sell signal flags an unsustainable .388 BABIP — the .346 xwOBA vs .305 xBA says regression is coming — but he's locked into the #1 LF role and has started every game.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ░░░░░░▓▓▓░ Hold · 65% — leans hold

Verdict: HOLD. Regression is coming on the BABIP, but the role lock and contact quality (48.1 HH%) make him a defensible #5 OF in 12-team formats.

#9 HOLD Trent Grisham

OF · NYY · 46% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: The signal here is the cleanest buy-low on the board — Buy signal flagged on a .160 BABIP that's unsustainable low, with a .346 xwOBA, 14.2 Barrel%, and 50.9 HH% all screaming positive regression. The .169 L14 line obscures the fact that he's batting leadoff for the Yankees and started 6 of the last 7 days. The contact has been there; the results haven't.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ░░░░░░░▓▓▓ Hold · 75% — strong hold

Verdict: HOLD. A leadoff hitter with elite Statcast and a sub-.200 BABIP is the textbook buy-low — this is the rare add where the L14 line is a feature, not a bug.

#10 HOLD Gregory Soto

RP · PIT · 40% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Pittsburgh's only listed reliever in the depth-chart table, with closer-of-record status. L14: 5G, 5.2 IP, 6 K, 0.00 ERA, 2 SV, 1.83 xERA. The signal flags a Hold with ERA (1.42) below FIP (2.52), so some climb is coming, but the role is locked and the saves are there.

#11 HOLD Heliot Ramos

OF · SF · 47% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Per @susanslusser (5/11), he's batting 5th and starting in LF for the Giants. L14 is solid (.269, 1 HR) with a 13.1 Barrel% and 51.4 HH%. Hold signal flags a .382 BABIP regression risk, but he's the unambiguous #1 LF with both backups on the IL.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ░░░░░░▓▓▓░ Hold · 70% — leans hold

#12 HOLD Luke Raley

1B/OF · SEA · 16% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: 3 HR and 10 RBI in just 7 L14 games, with an elite .390 xwOBA, 21.7 Barrel%, and 53.3 HH%. He's the listed #1 RF and the dual 1B/OF eligibility is huge in 12-team formats. The .173 average is BABIP-driven and the contact quality is screaming positive regression.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ░░░░░░▓▓▓░ Hold · 65% — leans hold

Verdict: HOLD. Power profile + multi-position eligibility at 16% ownership is a steal — the playing time is the only nit and even that's trending starter.

#13 HOLD Aaron Ashby

RP · MIL · 31% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: L14: 4G, 7.2 IP, 11 K, 1.25 ERA, 2 W, 2.28 xERA. The Statcast peripherals (99 K%, 98 Whiff% — note these read extreme, likely percentile ranks) point to elite swing-and-miss. He's the #2 RP / setup behind Chad Patrick. With Patrick as the listed closer, Ashby is a high-leverage handcuff with strikeouts and the occasional W.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ░░░░░░▓▓▓░ Hold · 65% — leans hold

Verdict: HOLD. Elite K-rate setup arm with handcuff value behind Patrick — useful in any league rostering holds, and a saves lottery ticket otherwise.

#14 HOLD Miguel Vargas

1B/3B · CWS · 74% owned (briefly mentioned — over 70%)

Already widely rostered, but worth flagging: L14 .234 with 3 HR / 8 RBI, an excellent .403 xwOBA, and a Hold signal calling for AVG rebound on a .220 BABIP. He's the #1 CWS 3B and starting every game. If somehow available in your league, he's a buy.

Verdict: HOLD.

#15 AVOID JJ Bleday

OF · CIN · 14% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: The Statcast pops off the page — .481 xwOBA, .343 xBA, 17.1 Barrel%, 57.1 HH% — but the role doesn't. He's the #2 LF (backup / corner-OF flex) behind Spencer Steer, and the L14 line (.204, 10-for-49) is propped up by a .404 BABIP that the Hold signal flags for regression. Great underlying contact, wrong depth-chart slot.
