The Yahoo Adds Sheet — 5/12

A.J. Ewing is the highest-conviction HOLD on today's board — an aggressive Mets callup with a Soto-shaped opening in the OF and instant runway. Nolan Arenado leads the AVOID pile: a .175 L14 line, weak Statcast contact, and back-to-back benchings make this a pure name-recognition add.

The Yahoo Adds Sheet — 5/12

These are Yahoo's top adds for the day — the largest day-over-day ownership_pct gainers across every Yahoo league (probable SPs excluded, since those are matchup streams, not waiver conviction).

Top conviction HOLD: A.J. Ewing (7% owned). The Mets fast-tracked him from Triple-A after just 13 games per @AnthonyDiComo, and with Juan Soto on the IL there's an actual corner-OF runway in Queens. Add now while he's still under 10% owned.

#1 AVOID Henry Bolte

OF · ATH · 11% owned (▲ +5.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: No clear catalyst in the data — Bolte is still listed as AAA RF #6 (role=prospect) with no callup tweet, no transaction, and the l7_bubbles show him benched every single day the A's played. This is almost certainly a speculative dynasty/prospect-watch add chasing the ownership wave, not a real playing-time event. Until there's a transaction line, he doesn't help a 12-team mixed roster.

Verdict: AVOID in 12-team mixed — no MLB role, no transaction, no signal beyond ownership buzz. Dynasty-only stash.

#2 HOLD A.J. Ewing

2B,OF · NYM · 7% owned (▲ +5.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Per @AnthonyDiComo (2026-05-12), "The Mets are calling up A.J. Ewing… It's an aggressive promotion after just 13 games at Triple-A, but all Ewing has done is hit." With Juan Soto on the IL and the Mets' OF depth chart thin behind MJ Melendez, Ewing walks into immediate runway. 2B/OF eligibility is the cherry on top in 12-team mixers — that's a flex-slot unlocker.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ░░░░░░░▓▓▓ Hold · 75% — leans hold

Verdict: HOLD. Fresh callup + Soto-shaped vacancy + multi-position eligibility = exactly the profile worth a FAAB bid this week.

#3 HOLD Peter Lambert

SP · HOU · 36% owned (▲ +2.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Per @brianmctaggart (2026-05-12), Lambert just went 7 IP / 3 ER / 6 K / 1 BB vs. SEA with 13 whiffs on 51 swings — 7 of those whiffs on the changeup. L14: 11.1 IP, 1.62 ERA, xERA 3.45, Whiff% 73. He's slotted as the Astros' SP #6 (starter, filling) but with Hunter Brown on the IL and Lance McCullers Jr. DTD (fingernail popped off May 6, per MLB.com), the rotation runway is real. Buy/sell tag: Hold — ERA should regress down.

#4 HOLD Trevor McDonald

SP,RP · SF · 17% owned (▲ +2.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: L14 line is loud: 1 G, 7.0 IP, 8 K, 1.29 ERA with an xERA of 3.73 to back it. He's the Giants' SP #6 (starter, filling) with Logan Webb on the IL, and @susanslusser's 5/11 lineup card lists "Trevor McDonald - RH" as the Giants' starter at LA. That's confirmation of a rotation turn against a tough park — but the role is locked for now.

Verdict: HOLD as the Webb fill-in — strong debut + clear runway, but the Dodgers matchup is a real test before you trust the back end.

#5 AVOID Nolan Arenado

3B · AZ · 22% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: No real catalyst — name brand. L14 is grim: 12 G, .175, 2 HR, 4 RBI, xwOBA .318, Barrel% 7.9, HH% 27.7. The buy/sell signal explicitly tags him Sell with limited contact quality, and the l7_bubbles show him benched the last two days (05-11, 05-12) even though he's slotted as the D-backs' starter at 3B. Lineup-spot drift from 4th/5th down to 6th-7th before the benchings is a yellow flag.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ▓▓▓░░░░░░░ Hold · 30% — clear stream

Verdict: AVOID. The Sell signal, sagging HH%, and back-to-back benchings make this the textbook name-recognition trap.

#6 AVOID Lucas Giolito

SP · SD · 6% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: No data beyond the depth-chart slot — Giolito is listed MLB SP #3 in San Diego, but there's no L14 line, no Statcast read, no tweet, no transaction in the block. The bubbles show seven straight non-pitching days. With nothing under the hood to validate the buzz, this is a speculative add chasing the Padres' rotation injuries to Germán Márquez and Nick Pivetta.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ▓▓▓▓░░░░░░ Hold · 40% — leans stream

Verdict: AVOID without an underlying signal in the data — wait for a confirmed start and an L14 read before bidding.

#7 AVOID Michael Soroka

SP,RP · AZ · 60% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Approaching 70% ownership so brief: L14 is ugly (2 G, 9.1 IP, 8.90 ERA) with xERA 4.78 backing the run damage, and the signal explicitly tags Sell. He's the D-backs' rotation SP #5 (role=starter) so the role is intact, but the underlying contact is not.

Verdict: AVOID adding now — those already rostering can hold for a matchup bounce, but he is not the add to make today.

#8 AVOID Brandon Marsh

OF · PHI · 39% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Per @ToddZolecki (5/11), "Brandon Marsh is leading MLB in hitting." L14: 12 G, 20-for-48 (.416). But — and the data block is blunt — the buy/sell signal flags Sell, citing a .388 BABIP as unsustainable. xwOBA is a fine .346 with HH% 48.1, but xBA is only .305 and Barrel% just 6.5. The hot week is real; the keeper-grade upside is not.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ▓▓▓▓▓░░░░░ Hold · 50% — coin flip

#9 HOLD Trent Grisham

OF · NYY · 46% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: This is the cleanest buy-low on the board. L14 average is an ugly .169, but the signal is explicit Buy — BABIP .160 unlucky low — and the Statcast peripherals are loud: xwOBA .346, Barrel% 14.2, HH% 50.9 (xBA .222 vs actual .169). He's the Yankees' CF #1 hitting leadoff (1-1-1-1 across most of the last week per the bubbles). The skill is intact; the luck is not.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ░░░░░░░░▓▓ Hold · 80% — strong hold

#10 HOLD Gregory Soto

RP · PIT · 40% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Soto is the Pirates' CL #1 (closer of record). L14: 5 G, 5.2 IP, 0.00 ERA, 2 SV, xERA 1.83. The signal is Hold — ERA likely climbs to meet FIP 2.52, but the role is the asset. With Chris Devenski on the IL through mid-May, there's no immediate threat.

#11 HOLD Heliot Ramos

OF · SF · 47% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Per @susanslusser's 5/11 lineup, Ramos was hitting fifth as the Giants' LF (role=starter, LF #1). L14: .269 with HH% 51.4 and Barrel% 13.1. Signal is Hold with a BABIP regression warning. With Jerar Encarnacion and Bo Davidson both on the IL, the role is uncontested.

#12 HOLD Luke Raley

1B,OF · SEA · 16% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: L14 batting average is loud-bad (.173) but the power is real: 3 HR, 10 RBI in 7 games, with xwOBA .390, Barrel% 21.7, HH% 53.3. Statcast paints him as a Top-tier contact-quality bat being dragged down by a thin sample. He's RF #1 in Seattle with 1B/OF dual-eligibility.

#13 HOLD Aaron Ashby

RP · MIL · 31% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: L14 is monster strikeout volume — 4 G, 7.2 IP, 11 K, 1.25 ERA, xERA 2.28, with absurd Whiff% (98). Role is setup behind Chad Patrick as the Brewers' closer, so saves upside is limited unless Patrick falters. Pure ratios + holds + Ks play.

#14 HOLD Miguel Vargas

1B,3B · CWS · 74% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Over the 70% writeup cap so brief: 3B #1 in Chicago, L14 .234 with 3 HR, xwOBA .403, BABIP .220 (unlucky low — AVG should rebound). Signal is Hold.

Verdict: HOLD if rostered — not the add to chase at 74% ownership, but a clear keep.

#15 HOLD JJ Bleday

OF · CIN · 14% owned (▲ +1.0pp day-over-day)

Why he's being added: Statcast peripherals are spectacular: xwOBA .481, xBA .343, Barrel% 17.1, HH% 57.1 — those are top-of-leaderboard numbers. But the role is the catch: he's listed as LF #2 / backup (corner-OF flex) behind Spencer Steer, even with Eugenio Suárez on the IL. L14 .204 with 3 HR shows the power leaking through. Signal flags Hold but warns of AVG regression down on a .404 BABIP.

Stream / Hold meter: Stream ▓▓▓▓▓▓░░░░ Hold · 55% — leans hold
